The conversation with the girls in the last entry has given me all sorts of ideas for our Christmas card photo this year. None of which I imagine Jörg will agree to. Although...I did once convince my dad to let me take a photo of him wearing a crown and clip-on earrings (at Annika's insistence, during a heartpoundingly intense game of Pretty Pretty Princess--because one Pretty is never enough). Of course, I also had to promise never, ever to share those photos with the world. So maybe my powers of persuasion aren't so stereotype-overcoming, after all.
Anyway, if you, too, are already thinking of family photos for the holiday season, might I point you to one of the photographers participating in Family Portrait Month? During the month of October, participating member studios will donate a portion of their sales to benefit Operation Smile. Locally, my favorite mom-professional-photographer, Jackie Haggerty, is one of the participants. I always love the idea of finding local, independent photographers for professional portraits, and here's a way to benefit a worthy cause at the same time.
And, yes, I know it's not even August, yet, and who's thinking about Christmas already? Besides retailers, I mean. But today when I looked out our west-facing windows, I saw that our neighbor's burning bushes are already tinging red. I might as well start unpacking the Christmas ornaments now.
