In case anyone is wondering:
1-We are all here, and all still doing well.
2-BUT, Annika has had diarrhea and a cough for the past two weeks with no obvious reason (yes, the stool has been tested, repeatedly)
3- EXCEPT FOR, a rapidly rising EBV-PCR, which (for those not in the transplant community who therefore didn't take a quick indrawn breath and knock quickly on wood when those 6 letters showed up) is an extremely common virus that doesn't usually cause too much trouble for most people, but can cause a type of cancer in patients on prograf (Annika's main immunosuppression).
4-ALTHOUGH, Annika just looks way too good to be suffering any major complications at this point, and
5-THEREFORE, we are doing a pretty good job at not freaking out.
6-HOWEVER, well. You know. Eep.
7-ON THE OTHER HAND, we just got back from a trip to Kansas City, where my dad had three stents placed after spending quite a while in the hospital, much of the time generally freaking my mom out. By the time we got there, he was ready to take on Annika and Frankie in some marathon UNO sessions, which takes more stamina than you might think.
Off to Chicago again tomorrow.
