Good Grief, Moreena. How you hold on is amazing to me. Bless you, all of you. You are in my thoughts. I wish I could help. And HURRAY for Anni....

We are so glad to read Annika is making a turn for the better! We are working on a few more surprises that will occupy some of her long hours of confinement.Love, Gina, Anna, and Demi

MoreenaI am so thankful that you have your wonderful Anni back to a rational conversing state (and her incision is closed - hallelujah). How I feel for you sleeping in that bed not daring to move and seeing your daughter have those terrible hallucinations. I know there is still much to get through but I wish it be speedy for you both and that hearing Anni's voice again will renew your energy. You are being truly amazing one step at a time.

I have tears of happiness in my eyes for you right now. I know you have waited for Anni to talk to you like that.... I hope it is a good sign that the hallucinations are on there way to becoming a thing of the past.Go Anni!

Awesome! More prayers for healing and happy days...and for drier clothes for you. I never thought I'd be thinking happy thoughts about soiled pjs but what an oddly wonderful way to wake up. Way to go Anni.

Falling Down, November 2004

  • Balloon in hand, my 4-year-old
    twirled across the kitchen floor,
    singing nonsense words
    in her own key.
    "It's my gift!" she declared
to the world at large, which
    was really only me,
    sitting at the table. Enough
    twirling, and she lost
    her balance, tumbling
to the floor in a theatrical
    slapstick of elbows and knees.

    She lay on her back
    for a few seconds,
    at the textured ceiling
    with the mysterious
    spaghetti sauce stain.
    Suddenly she
    flapping her arms and legs
there on the floor, as if to swish
    the imaginary snow
    into a snow angel.

"Falling down is also a gift!" says she.
