I'm praying.

Annika

Oh, sweetie. Sending you love.

Moreena,
My heart is just breaking for all of you. No one should ever have to endure even a fraction of what Annika has gone through. I will be hoping and praying that things improve rapidly. I so wish I could do more to help you.

I have been reading your blog since you were at clubmom and I actually just started working at Children's as a new RN in the NICU there. Just wanted to say I am thinking of your family and Annika down on the 2nd floor! (I'm sorry they had to intubate, that IS yuck)

Amy

Keeping you all in my thoughts tonight... keep us posted when you can.

Shelley

Oh, Moreena... I am so sorry. Prayers and thoughts for comfort headed your way. I am working in my PICU tomorrow... you and Anni will be on my mind constantly. Please let me know what I can do.

Falling Down, November 2004

  • Balloon in hand, my 4-year-old
    twirled across the kitchen floor,
    singing nonsense words
    in her own key.
    "It's my gift!" she declared
to the world at large, which
    was really only me,
    sitting at the table. Enough
    twirling, and she lost
    her balance, tumbling
to the floor in a theatrical
    slapstick of elbows and knees.

    She lay on her back
    for a few seconds,
    staring
    at the textured ceiling
    with the mysterious
    spaghetti sauce stain.
    Suddenly she
    began
    flapping her arms and legs
there on the floor, as if to swish
    the imaginary snow
    into a snow angel.

"Falling down is also a gift!" says she.
